Similar to the very clients we serve, here at HandiRamp we care deeply about ensuring our customers are as satisfied as possible with their purchase. To that end, we’ve added a brand new rattle suppressor to our latest cargo van ramps to address an issue where the ramps might rattle or clank while driving around.
If you’ve purchased one of our incredible cargo van ramps a year or more ago, you unfortunately do not have this new feature included with your product. Don’t worry though, we’ve still got your back. For those who already have their HandiRamp van ramps, we are offering a sound dampening kit that can be easily installed on your current ramp to make them much quieter while you drive between jobs. This kit accomplishes the same purpose as the sound suppressor included with newer ramps and can be installed within minutes.
Read on to find out more about how the sound dampening kit can improve your business’s cargo van ramps.
Why You Should Purchase The Sound Dampening Kit
Unfortunately, it can be fairly common for our older (Pre 2023) van ramps to be a little noisy while in transit. The expert hand-welded construction produces an exceptionally durable and resilient product, so despite any loud noises you are experiencing, you don’t have to worry about your ramp loosening or declining in quality any time soon.
Our ramps were also specifically designed to take up a minimal amount of space within your cargo vans when stowed, less than 12 inches of cargo space once folded. A chain and rubber clasp keep the ramp closely held in place, but can also have the unintended side-effect of some rattling since the folded ramp is so closely and effectively bundled together. Minimizing these auditory disturbances is important not only because they are annoying, but also for the sake of your business’s employees, equipment, and cargo. Driving as focused as possible will help your business minimize the chance of any possible accidents as well.
So how does the sound dampening kit actually turn a rattling ramp into a more quiet one? The answer is refreshingly simple, a series of rubber stops drilled directly into your ramp which restrict the folded ramp from colliding with itself. These rubber stops are connected to short, flat brackets with pre-drilled holes to make the installation as easy as possible. While in transit, instead of the sections of your ramp hitting each other whenever the force of the cargo van in motion causes them to shift enough, they’ll only come in contact with the rubber making in near-silence. These dampeners are very similar to the bumpers included with newly sold ramps, so in essence installing the dampeners lets you upgrade your existing cargo van ramps all on your own.
As previously stated, reducing distractions in your business’s cargo vans, like loud rattling, doesn’t just make for a more pleasant drive but a safer one. Professional organizations like yours value every part that contributes to completing a job, and many of those parts like necessary tools or cargo to be delivered or the employees who make your business possible all make use of your cargo vans to travel. Ensuring you are able to operate your own vehicles as distraction-free and carefully as possible best protects every asset just listed and protects your business from potentially pricey, and avoidable, costs from any accidental damages. In order to best create this kind of alert environment, you should purchase sound dampeners for your cargo van ramps.

Just like with your van ramp, you can easily install the sound dampening kit yourself using only a few common tools. And our helpful ramp experts are also available for any questions with the installation, the same as with the ramp itself. The kit itself mainly consists of a series of screws, nuts, and washers to attach each dampener piece. With just a power drill and wrench you will be ready to start attaching your upgrades to your van ramps.
You will start off by (1) marking where the dampeners will be drilled into the ramp using a marker or sharpie by tracing through the pre-drilled holes in the dampener piece. Once marked, (2) take your power drill and pierce the sides of the ramp. With these new openings, take your sound dampener and place it over the holes with the rubber stop however far out as you need it to be. The slots on the dampeners are elongated and not just one single circle, so if you need to adjust how far back or out the rubber stop sticks from the ramp you can easily do so without the need to drill any new openings. Once you’ve found the perfect position, (3) simply fix in two screws onto each dampener to hold them in place.
With your new attachments, you have successfully eliminated any annoying clunking or rattling, leaving you with not only the reliable HandiRamp cargo van ramp you originally purchased but a peaceful ride between each deployment of your van ramp. Congratulations!
