Link Aluminum Ramps vs HandiRamp Cargo Van Ramps

Link vs HandiRamp

You have to be pragmatic when it comes to your business. If you’re going to invest your time and money into something with the hope it will enhance your enterprises, anything less than considering all reasonable possibilities and benefits would be irresponsible. Understanding this, we at HandiRamp know you want to be absolutely certain when purchasing ramps for your cargo vans or box trucks that you’ve chosen the best possible option.

Rest assured and know by purchasing a HandiRamp cargo van ramp, you will have made the safest, most efficient, and correct choice for the future of your business. To prove this, let’s compare our cargo van ramps to another brand; Link’s Manufacturing.

Varying Stock

In order to make a value judgment between the two brands, you need to first see the different sizes and selections of ramps both carry.

HandiRamp Cargo Van  Ramps

Cargo Van Ramps in winter - how to prepare

HandiRamp currently offers three different widths for our in-stock cargo van ramps — the slimmest clocks in at 36 inches, then 45 inches, and finally 52 inches. There are five total length options, the shortest being the 7 ft Short ramp, then the 9 ft Medium ramp, the 10.5 ft Long ramp, the 12 ft Extra Long ramp, and finally the 15 ft Extra-Extra Long ramp. Each width variation is available in all three of the possible length options as well, whichever best suits your business’s specific needs.

Link Ramps

The Link LB20, our competitor’s comparable ramp, comes in three width options as well but is limited to 24”, 30” and 36” widths. This makes the widest Link LB20 ramp the same width as HandiRamp’s slimmest van ramp. The LB20 does come in nine total length varieties from 4.5 ft all the way up to 11.25 ft. While this larger selection of longer ramps may seem handy, using ramps shorter than 7 ft long may be more trouble than a solution as the steep incline provided by such a short ramp may prove extremely difficult for businesses to handle while carrying out day-to-day operations. And despite offering four more length options, the CVR still comes in two longer lengths than the LB20.

The Short, Medium, and Long HandiRamp cargo van ramps are also all bi-fold ramps meaning they consist of two equal ramp sections that fold up together to be stowed vertically in your van when not in use. These three cargo ramps are also two different capacity options of either 1000 lbs or 1500 lbs. The Extra Long and Extra-Extra Long ramps are tri-fold ramps available in all three widths as well but only offered in the 1500 lbs capacity option.

All sizes of the Link LB20 are also bi-fold ramps. Unfortunately, the weight capacity for the LB20 maxes out at 1250 lbs and has a lower capacity at 750 lbs, one of which is significantly less than the minimum weight capacity of the CVR and both of which are less than the higher weight capacity.

So while the LB20 van ramp may have more available sizes to pick from, the actual range of those sizes leaves much to be desired as their longest and strongest ramps are still considerably shorter and less capable than HandiRamp’s cargo van or box truck ramps.

Best Features Possible

Both HandiRamp and Link offer a number of features on our respective ramps that claim to improve both usability and safety. Understanding the ins-and-outs of all these additional details that come with purchasing your new van ramps can be a crucial part of the decision as maybe you specifically value expert customer service or durability over helpful tools when shopping or industry innovation. Or, maybe you’d like to take advantage of all of the above in just one product without compromise.

Durability:

Link’s ramps are assembled using bolts and plastic parts, which if you’ve been reading along with our previous blog posts you know means the ramps are more likely to fail over time and use. Faced with the rigorous demands of your business’s operations, bolts are prone to coming loose which requires extra maintenance and vigilance. Plastic parts, especially at critical attachment points, are prone to breakage. HandiRamp cargo van ramps intentionally rely on welded attachment points done by our own expert craftsmen to ensure the maximum lifespan possible for your van ramps without having to waste extra time or resources on maintenance.

Non-slip surface:

When the weather gets rough most people only want to stay inside and bundle up, but your business doesn’t have that luxury. You have to make your deliveries and unload your products in rain, snow, and sleet –  and your tools need to be as dependable as you are in tough situations. Our cargo van ramps are all equipped with our patented 360-degree traction non-slip surface to keep you and your employees grounded and safe no matter the circumstances. We also have two other alternate surfaces available for even more unique needs, which you can read more about here. Link’s ramps have just a simple ridged surface to try and gain traction.

Warranty:

Link offers a one year warranty covering manufacturing errors for the original purchaser. By contrast, HandiRamp offers a three year warranty over any material or workmanship issues starting on the shipping date to the original purchaser. That’s three times longer than the Link warranty! Neither warranty covers damage caused by regular or irregular use of the ramp.

In-Stock Availability:

Link retailers do not carry ramps in-stock and each ramp must be fabricated after the order is placed.  If you look only, you’ll see that the lead time to ship an LB20, their standard ramp, is three to four weeks or more.  On the other hand, HandiRamp carries an inventory of the most popular cargo van ramp sizes and these high-demand ramps ship within three days of order.  If the HandiRamp van ramp you want is out of stock, we’ll ship it within 10 business days.

Cargo Van Ramp Configurator:

In an effort to make your search for new van ramps for your cargo or transit vans, HandiRamp has created the ingenious Cargo Van Ramp Configurator! This tool needs only a select few details about the model of cargo or sprinter vans your business utilizes and using this information can provide you with every standard ramp size that fits your vehicles. And in the rare case no ramp fits just right in your van, you can have a custom ordered CVR tailored perfectly for your specifications. Unfortunately, this tool is a HandiRamp exclusive and finding the right Link’s ramp to fit in your van’s will take a little more legwork on your part.
